We have a 20 minute (free) online consultation to discuss.

• Ako Playrooms’ design process, our educational and organisational focus.

• We discuss your Intake questionnaire and learn more about how we can help your family.

• We go through the design fees and costings associated with E-design projects and setting a budget.

Then after the go ahead from you, we will share with you:

• Ako Playrooms’ educational questionnaire, design aesthetic questionnaire and your Kid’s interview questions (if applicable) as well as a Pinterest board for collaboration.

• Step by step guide on how to do room measurements and take photos of the space.

We then keep in communication to set up a date for our design meeting.

Before our Design Meeting we

• Review your educational questionnaire and your design aesthetic questionnaire.

• We keep in communication by email and prioritise your design elements, furnishings and play spaces, colour palette and styling inspiration.

• We prioritise the educational aspects of your child’s space, what types of play to feature in their space.

• We communicate with you to create a tailor made organisational system that is functional, effective and works for your family, your child and the space.

During our Design Meeting we:

• Share, get feedback and prioritse the above points.

• Share our 2D concept drawings, including your proposed space layout, play areas, educational floor plan with wall elevations of active play area or built-in-feature (if chosen).

• Share our proposed mood boards, including colour palette, furnishing options, learning and play areas, toys and storage options, for your review.

This is the exciting part where we share our 3D Designs of your final space.

• We share our 3D renders of your finished space including styling notes, colours/wallpaper and all your design elements.

• We share our final educational floor plan and space layout. As well as wall elevations (to accompany your 3D renders) to help give you a good understanding and guidance of how to set up and style your space.

• We also share Ako Playrooms’ organisational guide to make sure you have all the skills and knowledge to set up your space and keep it running effectively.

• We share Ako Playrooms’ educational guide and educational explanations of the play areas that are tailored specifically to your space.

• We attach a clickable shopping list making it easy for you to purchase and complete your design.

• If you choose the Active Play upgrade or Ako’s Premium E-Design, we include working drawings for your builder, joiner or carpenter, showing specifications on how to built the custom elements of your design

• *we work alongside carpenters, builders and joiners who know our designs and we would be happy to recommend them (Australia and New Zealand only).

+Active Play Upgrade

+Built-in feature upgrade

You will also have the option of creating a built in feature/s into your design. This could include a:

• Fort

• Playhouse

• Loft playhouse

• Reading nook

• Stage/performance space

• Slide

• Built-in cabinetry

Our built-in-feature spaces inspire imaginative play and creativity. Children can develop their cognitive and social-emotional skills by creating their own stories, scenarios, characters, while developing their oral language and communication skills.

We holistically integrate your built in area with the rest of your playroom design ensuring a seamless ‘play flow’ throughout your space.
